Description:	In March 1997, PPLVC opened its doors to provide excellence in refractive eye surgery to Hawaii. This was done under the guidance of Dr. Donald Johnson, M.D. of the London Place Eye Center of Vancouver British Columbia. He is a world famous refractive surgeon who has performed over 45,000 refractive surgeries, and has directed the center to achieve excellence in outcomes and safety. Alita Soon, administrator and COT, at PPLVC has put together a comprehensive and well trained technical staff and the center has performed over 10,000 refractive procedures (mostly LASIK). The center has been committed to being an open center to community ophthalmologists and the majority of Hawaii ophthalmologists have performed their first cases safely and successfully at the center. In 1999, Dr. Stephen Gee, M.D. was appointed medical director and surgeon to begin together with PPLVC the most successful and most affordable laser vision correction program in Hawaii. PPLVC is the first center in Hawaii to utilize the modern scanning excimer laser (NIDEK EC-5000™), which allows the surgeons to tailor laser treatments more to the specific needs of the individual. We are also the only center to have two lasers available with the second being the VISX STAR S4 Active Track(TM) Excimer Laser with 3-D eye-tracking technology. PPLVC is committed to providing the highest quality care and technologies. Advanced eye mapping devices such as the ORBSCAN™, infra-red camera for pupil size measurement, auto lensmeter and auto refractor are essential in screening prospective patients. Multiple 3rd generation microkeratomes such as the Hansatome™ and SKBM™ are used.PPLVC has helped thousands of patients enjoy the benefits of laser vision correction in Hawaii.
